Flake ice can be seen everywhere in life. The characteristics of flake ice are thin and dry, and irregular white flakes. It has completely changed the cooling and preservation technology of various industries.

It is widely used in catering, medical treatment, fishery, chemical industry and other fields.

How does the flake ice machine produce flake ice? Let’s continue reading

Learn about flake ice and flake ice machines

Characteristics of flake ice: The thickness of flake ice is usually 1-2.2mm, the diameter is 12-45mm, and it is named after its flake shape. Flake ice has a large contact area with objects, a fast cooling speed, and a smooth surface without wear, and is loved by many industries.

Composition of flake ice machine: A flake ice machine is usually composed of a compressor, an evaporator, a condenser, a reduction motor and other components

Working principle of flake ice machine

1、When the flake ice machine is running, the water supply pump first pumps the water in the water tank into the water distribution tray. Driven by the reducer, the water in the water distribution tray is evenly sprayed onto the inner wall of the evaporator to form a thin water film, which exchanges heat with the refrigerant in the evaporator flow channel.

2、During the evaporation process, the refrigerant absorbs heat from the surrounding environment, the temperature inside the evaporator drops, and the water film quickly condenses into an ice layer.

3、When the ice layer reaches a certain thickness (1.5-2.2mm), the reducer drives the ice blade to start moving, and the ice blade slowly cuts or scrapes the ice cubes counterclockwise to form thin ice flakes. The flake ice falls into the ice storage container at the bottom under the action of gravity.

The flake ice machine also requires a heat exchange coil, which is usually made of 304 stainless steel to ensure its corrosion resistance and stable freezing.

Compared with the traditional flake ice machine, the new flake ice machine adopts a more advanced design: some unfrozen water falls into the water baffle along the inner wall of the evaporator cylinder, then flows along the guide groove, and finally flows into the water tank for the next cycle, which effectively utilizes water resources and improves ice making efficiency.

.

Flake ice machines need to be maintained regularly to prevent problems such as scale accumulation. These problems will affect the performance of the machine, reduce the ice-making efficiency of the machine, and may cause serious damage to the machine. Therefore, it is necessary to clean the water pipes regularly to extend the service life.

The refrigerants used in flake ice machines are usually R22 and R 134A. The former is Freon, and the latter is an environmentally friendly refrigerant. The two refrigerants have different impacts on the environment, and the use cost and machine maintenance cost are also different. Users can choose by themselves.
